The conciseness of the film presents a swiftly unfolding narrative that covers a diverse emotional spectrum. From anger and doubt to love and heartache, all of these emotions are roped in to construct the world of ‘Foresight’. 

A man has arrived at an expert’s doorstep to use ‘foresight’ which enables him to see what lies in the future with the help of a device. At the heart of all his questioning lies doubts about a romantic partner’s fidelity. As technology is interwoven with deep emotional ties and dilemmas, one of the core thematic concerns of the film is allowed portrayal. It offers an interesting overlap between something as clinical and impersonal as technology, and something as intimate and close to one's heart as love and relationships. 

The narrative that is thus constructed in the revelation of this truth is marked by a seamlessness of visuals, screenplay and edit, alongside equally strong performances. Perhaps the plot could be developed further, and engaged with more deeply in subsequent projects that have the luxury of length. 'Foresight' definitely leaves the door open for that.

The film is a meaningful exploration of love in all its intimacy and affection, and the pitfalls and doldrums that might sometimes accompany it. The first element that takes us into the protagonist, Alice's world is the opening night of her play. Alongside the performance on stage, and our introduction to its creator, the narrative ropes in a non-linear trajectory to give a glimpse into situations and realizations that led to this play. 
From endearing romance to heartache, an emotional spectrum is conjured with care and attention to detail. While a conflict unfolds on stage, it is reflected in a parallel strife that is simmering between Alice, and Jesse, an impatient member of the audience, and as we soon discover, her former boyfriend. The two continue to spar in the brief moments of the interval with no end visible in sight to their discontent and disagreements. However, at the same time, a wish fulfillment of sorts, something that could never come to be in real life, is achieved on stage. 
The portrayal of the protagonist is unmissable in its performance, exhibiting deep potential, as the film's many components are shared with the audience. This is further coupled with writing, and screenplay, both of which attempt to play around with the sound edit and music to communicate the film’s intentions in a cohesive manner.

Too Late, the first instalment in the web series Forward, presents to us the many complications of its protagonist's life that are about to take the form of full-blown chaos. We are introduced to Nick who is leaving the house of the woman he is secretly having an affair with, while having completely forgotten a very important event in his son's life. 

As he heads out, he receives a phone call from his wife that becomes the decisive moment of the episode. It is at this juncture that the action of the narrative is realized following which Nick's world comes crashing down. 

The first episode sets the premise in motion and leaves the viewer wondering about the fate of the characters they have interacted with so far. It ends at a crucial moment; now that the characters have been introduced and the audience taken into their world, fate of the former remains a potentially interesting preoccupation for the latter's imagination.

Forward: Too Late | Short Film Nominee

You are thrown into the high-paced world of Surprise the moment the film opens. The setting is of a party, complete with its multicolored lights, costumes, smartphone cameras and other related paraphernalia, where a man is about to be outed on social media for cheating on his boyfriend. 

All of the events come to unfold within a seemingly single-take narrative. The viewer piggybacks on the camera as it swiftly moves from one character to another, becoming the protagonist more than the characters themselves. The final result further employs humor in unlikely ways to enhance itself better, and offers the dedication of a sizeable team to make the single-take approach succeed. 

The visuals, however, could have been enriched more with a tighter control on lighting, allowing them to become a better version of their existent form, in turn, allowing the film to tell a story more entertaining and involving than it already is.
