Justin returns from work and calls out for his wife in the seemingly empty house. After a little searching, he finds her in an unusual situation, one that would soon turn out to be a reflection of her emotional state in all the chaos that it offers. We are thus presented with the image of a woman who sits with a glass of wine, a lighted candle, and a pillow and comforter in place, but in a dry bath. 

The ensuing scene becomes a microcosm of the predominant drama that would constitute the narrative. Justin and Cassie have recently lost a child, and the grief and its many pressures have taken a toll on their marriage and relationship.

 The intention of the plot therefore becomes about the exploration of how tragedy is capable of both pushing two people apart and pulling them together. Where would, then, our characters find themselves in this marriage that seems to be falling apart, amidst all the pain from the past, and fears for the future?

Gone | Short Film Nominee

The film aims to share the story of a man with Dissociative Personality Disorder. It offers a portrayal of the manner in which it affects the lives of those around him, particularly his sister Jessica who has quit her job to take care of him. The entirety of the plot is constituted by one night when their friends, as well as Jimmy's doctor, are all meeting to discuss his condition. As the various layers unfold, we are introduced to more dynamics that are already at play within the group - from hidden attractions to disagreements about medical opinions. The film invokes them all to familiarize the viewer further with the characters. At the end of it all, awaits an unexpected turn that makes one pause and then comprehend everything in a new light. The film is an attempt to bring to life all of these issues and concerns, but it would have been able to communicate its message better with a more seamless edit. Despite being a product of limited resources, it should on the whole be appreciated simply as an endeavor to weave together its story and intentions.

Southlandia | Short Film Nominee

A stuntwoman is quarantined with her brother who refuses to move away from the couch, video games and heaps of chips packets. However, she is determined to train and well, get him to train along with her. When two such opposing energies collide, can something productive truly come out of it? The film embraces a humorous approach to explore the answer to the question. The first biggest obstacle is to convince the brother to step outside and start stretching. After overcoming the hurdle of unannounced hunger pangs, they finally begin exercising when a stray punch finds the wrong destination, and thus begins a run and chase of the siblings. Direct and straightforward in its manner, the film is also sweet. Though it could have gained from more control on its light and visuals, on the whole it comes across as exhibiting the desire to share a day in the life of two siblings as comic relief in a world where the reality of a pandemic has become overpowering and overwhelming.
