The narrative introduces us to two lovers and a realm marked by separation, intimacy, and unmistakable vulnerability that ties it all together. The film and its namesake music album take audiences on a meaningful journey that is mapped and crafted with thoughtfulness and meticulous care. 

The several tracks taken from the same album conjure metaphors of love, relationships, heartbreak, acceptance, and loss. These are coupled with an intrinsic presence of nature, of thunder and lightning, of the vast expanses of the sea and the sky to further echo everything the narrative intends to convey. The rhythm of the music is tied to the emotional ups and downs of the protagonist, alongside being located within nature's many moods and hues, as if nature itself is the third character present alongside the lovers. 

The camerawork and the visuals it paints are equally and competently supported by the vocals that become an overarching, defining element of the film. The screenplay and the visual grammar employed are stunning not simply in terms of aesthetics but also the emotions they evoke. Consequently, the final result becomes a seamless union of skill and thought, with a deep authenticity of emotion and its expression.

What You Do Alone | Short Film of the Month

The documentary chooses nonagenarian Susan as its protagonist. After a life lived long and well, Susan now shares her reflections on existence in a heartfelt manner. The candid conversation, though brief, is defined by a rare meaningfulness that suffuses a much-needed sense of hope in a world where otherwise stories of heartbreaking realities abound. 
Despite having lived decade after decade where an overwhelming conflict or war always consumed at least some part of the world, Susan’s steadfast dream for a realm that has managed to overcome the many divisive forces of hate and cruelty comes across with impact and clarity. 
The screenplay ties up the articulate candor of its protagonist with mood shots to further drive the message home. The end result, consequently, becomes a purposeful whole that is not only defined by the uplifting intelligence as well as a reflection on life by its protagonist but also the technical know-how and storytelling skills of the entire team behind it.

Echoes of Tomorrow | Short Film of the Month

The film opens with a man speaking to an unspecified listener. Is he speaking with himself? Is the conversation only inside his head or is someone truly present in the room? The silence that accompanies this monologue pronounces a sense of isolation that is also evident in the austere surroundings of a nondescript room. 

The visual development is soon juxtaposed against the endless open space of the sea. The presence of a woman conjures a suggestion of memory, and therefore, presents another imagined listener to the protagonist. By invoking the said narrative, there is a sincere endeavor to talk about the isolation and loneliness of mental health struggles. 

Pain, grief, loss, longing, all of these are suggested within the film. Though the writing might run the danger of being a little young, the performance, visuals and edit all exhibit deep potential.
