thriller · Short Films · english
The film opens in medias res when something terrible has already happened. As the characters try to wrap their head around it, shock seemingly manifests itself in different forms for each one.
The story begins to peel back layer by layer, revealing a far terrible reality than the characters have left behind. Despite blood and violence in their immediate past, another tragedy awaits them, and it is in achieving this revelation that the film reveals its strength.
The taut narrative is economical with its beats, ensuring not a single second is wasted, while also keeping the unfolding action confined to the closely-controlled physical space of a car. The ensuing conversation develops with ease, and throughout remains defined by intrigue, suspense and a darkness lurking right below the surface. It would be interesting to see similar storytelling endeavours developed into longer projects where thrill and a sense of imminent chaos dictate the narrative in a similar manner.
