At its core, ‘Nahabed’ is a story about choices and the overarching dilemma that controls them. It is a narrative about the greater good, the hope of a better future, even if at the cost of one’s own desires and happiness.

The film presents to us a protagonist, Haïg, who is torn asunder by these forces. On his shoulders is placed the crushing responsibility of repopulating his race after a terrible genocide that has endangered the survival of the Armenian people. After the ritual that declares Haïg's fate, his bride awaits to participate with him in this grand scheme of siring a long lineage of progeny.

As all its ideas are realized, the film comes to be defined by a notable performance of its protagonist, as well as the supporting actors while presenting a singular voice when it comes to storytelling and world-building. It also very clearly exhibits the potential of powerful storytelling which, though a little raw in its current form, can attain greater heights in future projects.
