It is a truth universally acknowledged that modern art holds little to no value for anyone beyond a handful aficionados of the style. The short film takes the proposition a step further to assert that often even the ones who are experts in the field, the connoisseurs who may have deliberately sharpened their sensibilities in a specific manner, a curator for instance, are simply looking for meaning in a corner where it might not even exist to begin with.

When a man meddles with the masterpiece of an artist, one which was supposed to have secured a potential source of funding and therefore his career, the most unexpected chain of events is triggered. While the stranger has no interest in the art pieces, and has perhaps wandered into the exhibition for the complimentary drinks, he does indeed have a few tricks up his sleeve. What follows next are developments which are hilarious in their absurdity. Additionally, they bring to life a conversation marked by the sincerity of a curator who has no idea of the ride he has been taken for by our two unlikely characters.

The film, a little rough around the edges, does not take itself too seriously, and, in the process, manages to communicate its intentions with devotion and honesty. As for the distraught artist whose artwork was most effortlessly spoiled by a sauntering stranger, how will he achieve the funding he has pegged all his hopes on?

The film is my statement on the modern art industry, and that's why the genre is drama/comedy. As a director it was important for me to introduce the protagonist's artwork and his intention behind it first. At the same time, he is also watching everything that is happening before him - a performance space, the complexity and absurdity of it, the audience’s reaction to it all, the guide’s point of view and eventually, the commission that follows. It is only the artist who knows the true meaning of his piece of art, and yet, he remains silent.

On the other hand, as a contrast, is the antagonist of the film who acts freely on his own. It is his actions that create something special.

In the end, however, it was also important for me that every viewer brings their own meaning to the film.
