'Long Way' is a film about lovers but it's not a romance. The narrative presents a brief glimpse into a short trip that the two characters take to meet the man’s parents. In the exchange that ensues, tensions and simmering conflict stick out their head soon enough.
Though the conversation is soft, and marked by only a few words, it more than does the job of communicating the many ways the relationship is fraught with anxieties and stressors. Even when minor arguments are seemingly resolved, are they truly tied away for good, or simply brushed under the carpet until their next appearance? The question remains the defining element of not only the equation of the couple but also the film.
Notwithstanding a little rawness, the storytelling is defined by its vision, and bolstered by competent performances. The film leaves the door open for more similar endeavors which should definitely be brought to life and shared with audiences.
