The pressures of teenage years can be especially burdensome, especially for young girls. The situation has only worsened with the ubiquitous presence of social media, and the manner in which it has come to affect our relationships with our bodies. Body dysmorphia, eating disorders, low self-esteem are only some of the issues triggered by it all, and the short narrative is an engagement with similar thematic concerns.

Without truly labelling it as anything in particular, the story introduces us to the battles of a young girl who finds herself amidst deeply chaotic emotional and mental strife over primarily her physical appearance. Despite being surrounded by seemingly encouraging and supportive peers, she stills finds it difficult to accept the positive things they say about her.

As matters come to a head, however, the narrative brings to attention a fairly uplifting and heartwarming message for the viewer. Even though the isolation of a dark hour might seem overwhelming and oppressive, help and comfort that are capable of vanquishing it, are sometimes available closer than we think, underlines Fitting In.
