Family Bond

By Christopher Guzzo with 6.6

thriller · Short Films · english

The film's title suggests intimacy and affection that is often unconsciously associated with the familial realm. However, the opening itself determines that the subsequent developments would be far from that. The narrative soon comes to be marked by deceit, betrayal, abandonment and violence.

John's wife had gone missing two years ago. His desperate attempts to find her and bring her back to their family of two daughters have led to the unearthing of a disturbing secret. Having shown no inclination so far to communicate anything about her sudden disappearance to her former family, Linda now lives with a high school teacher. John's current circumstance is then allowed a connection with the opening image of the film, one marked by its own turmoil and disparateness of the two partners. Matters come to a head when he arrives at Linda's current residence to demand of her some crucial answers.

The short film reveals each new piece of information in a sustained manner, ensuring to keep the viewer engrossed in the plot. The revelation that lies in store at the climax, soon followed by a horrifying conclusion, eventually allows it to tie all the loose ends with an approach that shocks the audience while holding their unwavering attention throughout.
