The film makes an interesting choice to tell a story without any dialogue. It introduces us to a father, his daughter, and their trusted dog. On their establishment, they are fighting a losing battle against predators who are targeting the poultry. 

The young daughter’s soft heart always gets the better of her during such accidents. The film tells a notable story of her movement from the acceptance of the crushing but also indifferent cruelty of the natural world, to the need to make difficult decisions no matter how heartbreaking. The many emotional strokes are painted on the storytelling spectrum, strengthened by the shared chemistry and effortless performance of the two actors. 

The narratorial movement from one point to another is further achieved with ease. Though a slight rough edge or two appears in the overall storytelling, sometimes owing to the limitations of the approach the film has adopted, the end result ensures that they are swift to disappear as it progresses.

A father-daughter share a moment of joy as they bond over the sounds, feathers, and sketches of the mythical bird roc. However, this moment of happiness is extremely fleeting as the narrative swiftly moves to the outdoors, away from the confines of safety and domestic bliss, to now present only the man. 

Without his daughter by his side, and her necklace around his neck, he is now presented to the viewer in the all-black garb of mourning. And yet, irrespective of the circumstance, or perhaps precisely because of it, his pursuit continues. No matter the cost to him, he still tracks down the humongous creature in an attempt to assuage his own grief. 

Staying fully devoid of dialogue, the film presents a sincere story of a man who has known a tragic loss, and now, he will go to any lengths to seek the formidable goal, and eventually achieve it. The film shares all of this while tightly controlling its resources and the predominantly sole performance, ensuring that all its intentions are communicated with clarity and impact. It would be interesting to interact with more storytelling endeavors in the same vein in the future.
