Our protagonist Anthony is the head of the theater department at a middle school, a space that becomes a playground for all his dormant and denied ambitions of becoming a playwright. For the annual production, he sets up the students to perform a play purportedly by a famous German playwright who has very graciously offered it to the school, when in fact, there is no such playwright in existence, and the authorship belongs to no other than our desperately impatient protagonist himself. To further complicate matters, Anthony hires a filmmaker to document this entire endeavor. 

From the word go, things begin to go downhill, and the film does a hilariously entertaining and engaging job of portraying it all for the viewer. The big tragedy of Anthony’s life could lie in the answer that is crucial to this whole foolhardy endeavor - does he even have the talent to be a writer to begin with? The answer could be in the negative, or swing the other way, and reaffirm his already shaky faith in his writing and talents. 
At no point does the film overburden itself with the expression of all of these ideas, staying true to its amusing core all along. While our protagonist continues to deal with one hiccup after another, the viewer is always able to find the comedy in it, and it is in the achievement of this result that the film succeeds at being a complete, comprehensive whole.

Sure, Your Play is Good | Short Film Nominee

At first glance, the film presents a regular evening when three students complete an assignment the old-school way - in a library surrounded by books. However, while their research might be underway away from screens, something forces them to pay attention to their phones. 

The three soon begin to receive horrifying videos that completely alter the course of this mundane night. As violence makes its presence felt, it becomes clear that a terrible entity has the library, and the fate of those inside it, in its grip. The narrative does a zealous job of employing a fixed physical space to invoke horror, alongside the devotion of its cast and makeup department to portray it all for the viewer. 

The moment thus presented is suspended in time within the brevity of the end result which wastes no beats, and in the process, keeps the storytelling and the subsequent narrative, controlled, engaging, and tight all along.

Sent | Short Film Nominee

Eddie and Jeremy are determined to throw the best party for their classmates in a bid to win some popularity with them. During a moment of excitement, Eddie declares a party attraction, a famous YouTuber, Lady Crimson’s attendance, at their get-together. However, it is already too late by the time the proportion of the folly hits him. 

What follows next is the scramble to somehow get the internet sensation to show up at the party. The end result of the narrative is amusing, involving, and marked by a very endearing, and dedicated cast. 

The performances and the chemistry remain one of the most marked strengths of the film, as does the progression of events that are weaved together in a manner to triumph over constraints posed by controlled means in terms of production. The viewer is left with an innocent, humorous ride at the end of it all.

Party of the Year | Short Film Nominee

The pursuit of truth might not always be liberating, asserts the film. It portrays the many consequences of the same by portraying Mariah’s attempts to get to the bottom of a seemingly important family issue. After spotting her father speaking with a woman at a park, Mariah begins suspecting him of infidelity and thus begins her quest to find answers, to unearth some sort of a clue that can give any evidence for or against cheating. 
The resultant narrative comes to be marked by humor, devotion, and entertainment, even if at the cost of the protagonist’s plight. The storytelling, though held back by a few production limitations, shows promise and keeps the audience involved throughout.
