At the core of the narrative is a very relevant and pertinent concern - one of Islamophobia and communalism. However, when it opens, it gives no inkling of the intense discussion on the topic that it is headed towards.
The story begins on a highly sentimental and romantic note, taking the viewer into the intimate and playful exchanges of two lovers. They are shown to be deeply in love and are now about to be faced with an important day - when the woman will not only introduce her partner to her father, but also speak with him about a potential business opportunity.
All seems to be going well and the viewer is convinced this will be the main crisis of the film, and yet, without warning, the film takes a turn towards an engagement with Islamophobia. A petty communal comment leads to disturbing revelations and realisations, but also shows the character's conviction to not believe in hate, even if it requires of her a heart-wrenching decision. This is precisely what the film puts forth for the viewer to engage with.
