After a long drive, a man arrives at his new accommodation and receives a warm welcome by a friendly roommate. The apartment turns out to be better than expected and the situation so far seems to be going well, until a strange noise in the middle of the night wakes up the protagonist. Things appear even fishier when the door to his room seems to be locked from outside, while the noise continues to break the deathly silence. Once the events have been put into motion, there is no stopping them as the plot development goes ahead to prove. From a refrigerator stocked with meat to the brim to the strange cooking of the roommate who had once seemed welcoming, things come to a head until the protagonist discovers a deeply disturbing secret. Will he truly be able to find his way back from this place of no return? The Tenant endeavors to invoke horror in the viewer, and works towards it in a dedicated fashion. It, however, stands to gain from more stable and controlled visuals.

Two people meet on a date and the man soon suggests visiting his place which is nearby. Everything seems to be alright, and yet the narrative aims to invoke a sense of something being amiss, despite the seemingly casual tone of the conversation so far. While the woman is nervous and unsure of her decision, she is trying to overcome past inhibitions which she feels might have somehow led to the end of her previous relationship. Despite calling a friend in panic, she chooses to continue with the date. However, soon her discomfort achieves disturbing proportions, leading to heightened tension within the narrative, and the consequent events that propel the plot further. Though the film wants to invoke a story of thrill, its sound and lighting remain an impediment towards the complete achievement of the goal. At the same time, as the viewer might question the woman's fate, the suspense of The Last Date is finally dispelled for them, along with the revelation of a crucial bit of information, much to the horror of the characters.

The short film endeavours an exploration of the dynamics of platonic friendship and its interaction with a relationship that attempts to be more than that. Through the story of two best friends, where one of them finds himself desirous of the latter, the narrative puts forth its inherent concerns and dilemmas. The overarching question that comes to dominate it is about whether or not his rejection in love would influence his friendship with Priya, especially when the plot locates her in another potentially harmful relationship. Through an attempted dedication and sincerity of performance, the film aims to engage with it all, and also provide the viewer with an answer. While the storytelling is honest, a little fine-tuning remains wanting in the department of camerawork and visuals. Perhaps a little more time on the edit table would have allowed the product to be more than what it already is.
