Sam and Sadie are deeply in love, having built a space of intimacy and affection for themselves. Their days are full of spontaneity and unexpected, sweet moments of romance. This is our first glimpse into ‘Who We Were’.

However, it is soon made evident that the story and plot are about to go down a very different path, foiling any and all expectations one might have had from this love story so far. The overarching comment, in the process, thus becomes about the inexorable movement of time that spares none. It changes dynamics and equations in a lasting manner, leaving painful and haunting travails in its wake.

The final result is an attempt in sharing all of these concerns, even though it stands to benefit from a closer control on its sound. Having said that, the film leaves the door open for more such storytelling by the team.
